Rite-Temp stocks the STA-RITE J-series cast iron pumps and the Berkley SSCX stainless steel series. Both are available from 1/2 HP through 2.5 HP with ODP motors standard. TEFC all-weather motors are available by special order.

What is the difference between the SSCX and J/JB series pumps?

The Berkley SSCX series features stainless steel housing and shaft for maximum corrosion resistance, rated to 185°F with a 125 PSI maximum working pressure — ideal for chemical or high-temperature applications. The STA-RITE J/JB series uses heavy-duty cast iron construction and is available in high-head models (up to 140' head, 90 GPM) and medium-head models (up to 110' head, 140 GPM).

What's the difference between ODP and TEFC motors?+

ODP (Open Drip-Proof) motors are standard and suitable for indoor, relatively clean environments. TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled) motors have a sealed enclosure making them appropriate for outdoor installations, washdown environments, or anywhere the motor may be exposed to moisture, dust, or contaminants. TEFC motors are available by special order — call 1.800.462.3120 to request one.

Which series is right for my chiller system?+

For standard chilled water circulation in most industrial settings, the STA-RITE J-series cast iron pumps are a reliable, cost-effective choice.
